Virginia Glee Club 5K – April 11th, 2015

NOTICE:

Running Enthusiasts and supporters of the Virginia Glee Club:

It is our great displeasure to announce that the Virginia Glee Club 5k cannot proceed tomorrow on Saturday, April 11th due to low registration and route competition. There are an unfortunate number of conflicting races which, though late announced, pulled dramatically on our expected pool of runners and have cut registrants down to the low teens. No one is more upset about this turn of events than the Glee Club and the organizers of this event, but we are nonetheless happy to field any questions or concerns you may have. We are in the process of organizing refunds for registration and contributions and will provide details as they are available. Our greatest apologies for any lost time or effort, and we hope you can understand our decision. Please stick with us for updates in the future as we continue to fundraise for our International Tour.

Join the Virginia Glee Club for the first ever Glee Club 5K. Proceeds benefit our international tour to Argentina next year. International touring is expensive, and we don’t want money to be an issue for any guy that wants to participate!

The Virginia Glee Club is the oldest musical organization on grounds. We are an all male choir of about 60 members which perform classical music throughout the University community and the country. We typically perform for the Charlottesville community, performing major Christmas concerts and Spring concerts each year. For the past few years, these concerts have been sold out. We have a strong supportive base in the community and constantly have a strong showing at our concerts.

The Glee Club 5K takes you though the life of a Club Guy, starting at Old Cabell Hall where they first audition, around grounds, and past the Glee Club house. After running through historic central Grounds and past the Rotunda, you’ll finish in front of the University Chapel, where the Glee Club makes their final concert of the year. Along the way, you’ll find Club Guys cheering you on in song, exposing bits of Glee Club lore, and handing out water at the classiest water stops you’ve ever seen!
