Ten Thousand Voices: A History of the Virginia Glee Club and Its Times

Ten Thousand Voices, the new book by Glee Club historian, Tim Jarrett, is now available for preorder.

A history of choral music at UVA as viewed through the lens of the VGC, this book explores the roots of singing at Mr. Jefferson’s University and traces the evolution of the Glee Club from Reconstruction to present, examining the social, political, and cultural forces that have shaped the organization. Biographies of prominent Glee Club Alumni as well as the history of many of the University’s celebrated student songs are included.

Virginia Glee Club alumnus and author, Timothy Jarrett ‘94, is a member of the Boston Symphony  Orchestra’s Chorus and the official historian of the Virginia Glee Club. He has been researching Club history since 2002.
